Threadify Presents "Sell Fabric Through Garments" Free Workshop for Suppliers
Fabric suppliers know the scene well: a buyer comes to look at the cloth, asks for the price, falls quiet for a moment, then says they will think it over. The fabric usually is not the problem, the buyer just cannot picture what it becomes, or who would buy it.
Running trade shows, mailing color cards, waiting on inquiries: margins keep getting thinner and price wars keep getting more exhausting, even when the material in hand is genuinely good. The real issue often is not the fabric itself, but that it has never been “translated” into a language buyers can understand.
On September 22nd, from 2:00 to 4:30 pm, at the 5th floor, North Gate 1 or 2, China textile city garment accessories market, Qixian street in Keqiao, Shaoxing. Threadify is hosting a two-and-a-half-hour Fabric Supplier Workshop built around one idea: sell fabric through the garment and make good fabric easier to sell.
Guest Speaker: Li Mu, a “Design Long-Termist”
The workshop features Li Mu, a graduate of the apparel design program at the Tsinghua Academy of Arts & Design with more than twenty years in the garment industry. She's known as a “design long-termist” someone whose work is rooted deep in the industry rather than chasing short-term trends. She will walk attendees through three ways fabric suppliers can turn fabric into a design service that sells.
Three Ways Fabric Suppliers Get Empowered
Make the Fabric Seen
Fabric Application Development Service. Designers turn the fabric into finished garments and scenario-based concepts, so buyers “ask about the fabric after seeing the garment.” Fabric suppliers shift from waiting passively for customers to actively drawing them in.
Give Fabric a Direction
Scenario-Based Product Planning Service. Plans are delivered by scenario yoga, outdoor, home wear, and more, so fabric suppliers know exactly what a fabric can become and for whom it’s. Development stops being a guessing game.
Create a Premium for Fabric
Series Development + Quick-Response Sampling Service. Fabric suppliers compete with original series rather than raw fabric, backed by a central sample room for fast turnaround a way to step out of the price war.
As the workshop puts it: what a fabric supplier really sells was never just cloth it is a design service that can sell product.
